Matchbox Twenty frontman Rob Thomas and his wife Marisol are animal lovers and animal advocates. Their latest project: donating a total of $350,000 to help rescue animals in Puerto Rico.
Rob and Marisol donated $125,000 out of their own pockets, plus another $225,000 through their charitable foundation, Sidewalk Angels, to launch Pets Alive Puerto Rico. It's the latest branch of Pets Alive, America's oldest and largest no-kill animal rescue and advocacy organization, and its mission is to ensure the humane treatment of animals there.
In 2010, Rob and Marisol adopted a rescue dog named Ollie from Puerto Rico. According to Pets Alive, Puerto Rico has tens of thousands of abandoned and abused animals wandering the streets and beaches, and there aren't enough resources to deal with the sheer number of animals in need.

Haven't been to Puerto Rico in quite a while, but had a friend recently bring a stray home from a trip they took down there. So glad that they've created a charity to help this area of our world. Kudos!!!
